You will need to import the certificate into Netscape Navigator/Communicator, so that the browser will recognize the Little Man Computer Applet signed with this certificate. To do this click on the link below.
You should be prompted by Netscape with dialogs guiding you through the importing steps mentioned below. If this does not happen, and a page with junk opens or if the 'Save As' dialog appears instead, you do not have the proper MIME type for Netscape. click here to create one.
Import Steps:
- Netscape should recognize this certificate as a new certificate authority. Click on 'Next'.
- Click on 'Next' again to accept information from this authority
- You can view information about the certificate by clicking on 'More Info'. Click on 'Next' again
- Enable the check box to accept this certificate authority, and click on next
- If you want, enable the warning checkbox to display warning before sending information to sites .. (I didn't) and click on 'Next'
- In the Nickname field type "LMC Certificate" and click on finish.
This should import the certificate into your Netscape database. Restart your Browser to save the changes.

- Under Navigator, Go to Edit, Preferences.
- Look in Navigator/Applications panel.
- Click on 'New Type' to create a new MIME type and create one with the following information:
- Description of type: x509 CA certificate
- File extension: cacert
- MIME type: application/x-x509-ca-cert
- Application to use: c:\windows\system\rundll32.exe c:\windows\system\inetcpl.cpl, SiteCert_RunFromCmdLine %1
Note: The above application assumes that you are using Windows 95/98. If you are using WindowsNT, replace c:\windows\system with c:\winnt\system32.
Removing the certificate from your system:
If you do not want the certificate on your system for some reason, you can remove it at anytime by performing the following steps:
- Click on security in your Netscape Navigator/Communicator. It should bring up the security window for Netscape.
- Click on signers, under certificates.... It should display a list of certificates....
- Look for "LMC certificate" and click on Delete.. Confirm deletion to delete the certificate from your database.
